Hi.
This
will be the initial post from this blog.
Beginnings can be strange and
awkward to a degree, since I am unknown upon the starting point. There
has been no hype-machine heralding my arrival. And there is bound to be
little said about my potential as the race gets underway. It is entirely
likely that even less will be recorded across the dark finish line.
Wherever that may lie. So consider yourself a brave adventurer, having
arrived here with scant direction and little to keep you focused in
place. Yet...
Ok, enough atmosphere. I used to operate a mog, which was a music blog on Mog.Com. This website used to cultivate a wide and prolific community of
moggers - sharing uploaded music both popular and obscure, thoughts and
art. I joined in 2005 and contributed regularly for more than 5 years.
This went on until 2011, when the website finally shifted gears and went
full music-streaming service- at which time, the blogging features of
the site were discontinued.
My
desire for the Madrid-Space blog, now, is to revive the music/art/book/architecture discussion
that I had there. For me, it is akin to sitting in my bedroom as a kid making inconsequential zines. For some people, the level of significance found in the content is not important, however the act to DO still becomes necessary.
At
the end of my mog's life, I was focusing on sharing
indie/hardcore/rock/punk seven-inch singles because I felt that the compact size made for a palate-sized post which was
easily viewed and digested. The 2 or 3 song content, nice sleeve art,
and any pertinent stories or background information can be conveyed quickly for
anyone who cares; without wasting more than 10 minutes. Hopefully less. I
will most likely launch this blogger with the same seven-inch format in mind; but
from there, expect a multitude of other topics and music forays. Time
will reveal all.
Cheers!

post-script::
and because this is a music blog- enclosed is the first tune. Brooklyn based Obits have their 3rd LP on deck for a September release. The record-release show is actually going to be on 9/10 at the Bell House. Here is the first listen to a song off the album Bed & Bugs called Taste The Diff. Enjoy!
